Crooks and Spammers

To those of you who send out a lot of Email addresses in the "To" window please read the following.

If you are wondering why you are receiving conmen mail by post or Email then the following could be the reason why you and your addrees are on the marketting and conmen lists.

I sent the following to someone who was repeatedly sending out heaps of Emails and this is probably why I am now being pesteres with bogus winnings, enheritences and bank enquiries.

If you do not have the Bcc window just below Cc then when you are sending your next new message click on 'View' then click on 'all headers' this will open the new Bcc window. If  you put all your Email contacts in there they will not appear to anybody else or to each other. Each will receive an individual Email. You don't even need to put anything in the top window labelled 'To'. When the receiver gets it, it will then show your name in the 'To' window. Others do as I do and create a heading which goes in to 'To" window as "Undisclosed recipient".

There are those who watch out for emails with multiple email addresses, they collect them and use them for various purposes including selling them to marketing people.

(Be wary of all Emails that ask you to pass them on to others whether they be petitions, profound or caring messages, delightful poems and etc. This is a major source of collecting email addresses.

 E-mail petitions are
NOT acceptable to parliament or any other municipality.  To be acceptable petitions must have a signed signature and full address.  Almost all e-mails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most cards.  All it was, and all this type of e-mail is designeds to get names and "cookie" tracking info for tele-marketers and spammers to validate active e-mail accounts for their own purposes.  Any time you see an e-mail that says forward this on to "a number" of your friends, sign this petition, or you'll get good luck, or whatever, has either an e-mail tracker program attached that tracks the cookies and e-mails of those folks you forward to, or the host sender is getting a copy each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of "active" e-mails to use in spam e-mails, or sell to others that do.)
