News from around the globe that the newspapers seldom print

Disclaimer and fair comment

While I agree with most of the material passed on I may not be in agreement with all. However there is much we can learn from some that we disagree with. Remember it was once thought that the earth was flat.

It is left to your judgment to determine what you agree with and what to act upon.

Our Rainbow Nation
When Judy Garland wanted to come back after a long period off the stage, where did she perform? When Madonna relaunched her career and won a Grammy, which country did she move to? When Pop Idol took over global TV screens, which country voted for its first gay winner? You guessed it - Great Britain of course!

Awash with rainbow pride, Britain is a nation of excitement, history, talent and understanding. Hell, we’ve even had a gay king (or perhaps we should have called him queen) way back in the 13th Century.
Union Jack at RAH

The United Kingdom has come a long way since the dark days when homosexuality was considered illegal. The dreaded laws of yesteryear have been banished thanks to the strength of the local gay and lesbian community, and the growth of acceptance amongst our straight supporters.

Modern day British gay society is now one of the most sophisticated, cosmopolitan and pulsating community’s in the world – largely due to the successes and public figures of our past who valued the ‘home’ in homosexuality.

The UK is one of the largest populations of gay and lesbian folk in Europe, we also have equal age of consent laws (set at 16), partnership laws and even legal commitment ceremonies in some of our major cities. As for marriage, it’ll just be a matter of time!

We’re all just counting the days until a union with Jack under the Union Jack becomes more than just a dream.

So pack up your suitcases and practice that Royal wave, because you’re about to embark on a holiday fit for a Queen – and we don’t just mean the one living in Buckingham Palace!
