Democrats Senator Andrew Bartlett today said the Senate Legal and Constitutional Committee would hold an inquiry into his Stolen Generation Compensation Bill 2008. Under the bill, applicants - who could include living descendants of indigenous stolen generation members - would be paid out of a Stolen Generations Fund…
“If people in the community who support compensation do not make the case now, the opportunity could well be lost for good,” Senator Bartlett said.
What “opportunity”, Senator? You mean the opportunity provided by Kevin Rudd’s sorry? The sorry he swore wouldn’t generate claims for compensation?

Stolen White children
Many White children were taken from pregnant unmarried teenagers which did not stop till after the Second World War and adopted out without the mother knowing the whereabouts of the child. Quite a different story to the half caste Aborigine children who were shunned, abused or sexually molested among the Aborigine tribes. Much credit should be given to the outback missionaries who were able to rescue most of these children. Some were placed in government positions where they were promoted with great rapidity over the top of more deserving people with a number entering the ranks of the millionaires.
So what happened with the stolen White children? What compensation did they receive? And what of those mothers who did not want their child stolen as opposed to the Aborigine mothers who in many cases took the child to the missionaries? It now seems that our foolish Prime Minister is going all out for the Aborigine vote by offering compensation to people who were rescued and no mention of the stolen Whites.
